Coaching for Teachers

Our approach is very different from the “one-size-fits-all” professional development teachers may have experienced in the past. We know that providing teachers with too much training at one time results in low levels of implementation. Our scaffolded approach helps to ensure that professional development moves at a pace that allows teachers to integrate new techniques into their classroom practices in ways that directly benefit students.

CEP uses a scaffolded and differentiated approach to strengthen teaching effectiveness. Our unique program hinges on an inquiry-based methodology that helps teachers evaluate the quality of their own instructional practices.

CEP professional development and training provides innovative solutions to problems like these:

  • Teachers continue to teach the way they always have, while their students continue to get the same low results.
  • Teachers rarely engage students in higher-order thinking as part of classroom instruction.
  • Teachers receive training that they don’t implement in the classroom.
  • Teachers receive training, but have no time to reflect on what they have learned, debrief with their colleagues or properly integrate new learning into their classroom practices.

Schools that participate in CEP’s professional development program experience numerous benefits, including:

  • Improved quality of classroom instruction
  • Students that are held to higher standards of thinking and performance
  • Training and professional development that is geared to teachers’ real needs
  • A comprehensive professional development plan that benefits the entire school and that can be quickly and easily implemented
